Define activities, estimated timing, and roles for each stage. Discuss these with your JTE during uchiawase!
| Goal Clarity (SMART)? | ||
Check: Is the Lesson Goal specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound? Can students *demonstrate* it?
| Target Language Focus (Limited)? | ||
Check: Are you trying to teach too much new grammar/phrases? One or two distinct TL items are usually best for one lesson.
| Vocabulary Support (Effective Intro)? | ||
Check: Is necessary NEW vocabulary clearly identified? How will it be introduced and reinforced (visuals, gestures, context)?
| Logical Flow (4 Ps)? | ||
Check: Does the lesson progress logically: Warm-up -> Present -> Practice -> Produce -> Wrap-up? Does each stage build upon the previous one?
| Activity Relevance (Supports LG/TL)? | ||
Check: Do chosen activities directly help students practice and use the TL to achieve the Lesson Goal? Avoid "fun for fun's sake" if it doesn't support learning.
| JTE/HRT Role Defined & Agreed? | ||
Check: Does the plan clearly outline specific, actionable roles for both ALT and JTE during each stage? Has this been discussed and agreed upon in uchiawase?
| Materials Ready & Checked? | ||
Check: Are ALL necessary materials (flashcards, worksheets, digital files, audio, realia, etc.) prepared, printed, tested, and organized?
| Timing Realistic? | ||
Check: Are time estimates for each stage reasonable for the actual class length (usually 45-50 min)? Factor in transitions. It's common to overestimate what can be done.
Uchiawase Reminder: Have you scheduled an uchiawase (planning meeting) with your JTE/HRT to discuss this lesson plan and your respective roles? This is CRUCIAL for successful team teaching!
